I
was born and brought up in South Yorkshire, I studied and attended part–
time education in stained glass; then attend De Mort fort University,
Lincolnshire; in Design and Decorative Glass, for three years where I
obtained a BA Honors degree: there I studied to further and refine my
traditional skills under Glenn Carter ; but also expanded into contemporary
process, such as 3D formation, kiln forming, bas relief and inclusions
As well developing my design skills and personal style: of movement and
texture.
There I also had the privilege, to work
with Rev. Cannon Andrew Stokes, the Precentor of Lincoln Cathedral; on
an glass installation to commutate St. Hugh’s 800 year celebration. As
Cannon Stokes introduced me to the interpretation of symbolic elements
& color, within Christian liturgy. I learnt a great deal from working
with him; and continue with this ethos of symbolic meaning.
After my graduation, I entered Chartered
Architect Mr. Ron Sims of York, employment, which I learnt a great deal
from him, until his sad passing.
I am member of the Master Glass Painters,
& was excepted to study with Debra Coombs, a fellow and master painter.
Where I was able to explore & develop a more textural quality to my
work, thanks to her skill and enthusiasm.
In 2009 I was selected to exhibit at The
Cochrane Gallery in London; as part of the British Society of Master Glass
Painters’ then on at Ely Stained Glass Museum, Cambridge.
